Dr. Minkoff currently is a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Stan Sacks, Ph.D.

Stanley Sacks, PhD, a clinical research psychologist, is the Director of the Center for the Integration of Research and Practice at NDRI in New York City. Dr. Sacks and the staff of CIRP specialize in technology transfer that imbues evidence and consensus-based approaches into clinical practice. The author of numerous publications, Dr. Sacks was the Chair for the Treatment Improvement Protocol, Substance Abuse Treatment for Persons With Co-Occurring Disorders, slated for publication publication in 2004. A compendium of best practices and effective treatment strategies for those with both mental and substance use disorders (co-occurring disorders), this document consolidates research and treatment advances to date. An internationally recognized authority in the area of co-occurring disorders, Dr. Sacks is the Expert Leader for the Co-Occurring Center for Excellence, an initiative sponsored by the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration branch of the Department of Health & Human Services to provide co-occurring disorders training and technical assistance to states and agencies across the USA. Concurrently, Dr. Sacks is leading research activities for several federally funded studies that are examining aspects of substance use or co-occurring disorders in special populations, such as those who are affected with HIV/AIDS, or who are incarcerated. Over the course of his career, Dr. Sacks has served as Deputy Director of Programs in a large urban center for adolescent substance abuse, has provided organizational consultation to many human services agencies, and has maintained a private practice for over 30 years.


David Mee-Lee, M.D.

David Mee-Lee, M.D. is a board-certified psychiatrist and is certified by examination of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).  He is based in Davis, CA and is involved in full-time training and consulting both nationally and internationally.  Dr. Mee-Lee is Chief Editor of the Revised Second Edition of the ASAM Criteria, ASAM PPC-2R, which includes criteria for co-occurring mental and substance-related disorders.  He is a Senior Fellow for the Co-Occurring Center for Excellence (COCE) for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).  Dr. Mee-Lee has over twenty-five years experience in treatment and program development for people with co-occurring mental and substance use disorders and has authored a number of book chapters and papers in a variety of professional publications.
